June 21st is International Yoga Day, created by United Nations to raise awareness of the many benefits of practicing yoga. This day celebrates the physical and spiritual prowess that yoga has brought to the world stage, and hopes to inspire people all around the world to roll out their mats.
As a company with deep roots in yoga and a mission to promote intentional self-care, Wanderlust honoured the UN-sanctioned event by bringing together our community of yogis for a full day of yoga classes at Warrior One studios across Melbourne.
The more each of us deepens our understanding of self, the clearer our pathway is not only to our own truth but to understanding and unearthing the potential of our self and others as well.
Only good can come from that. Change needs to be seeded on an individual level before it can spread further.
That is why this year’s theme ‘Yoga for Humanity’ is especially close to our heart.
The COVID-19 pandemic has been an unprecedented human tragedy and has taken a toll on the mental health of many. Hello uncertainty, social isolation, grief, and anxiety! The experience of the last two years has highlighted the need for us all to put our mental health first, and the practice of yoga is a beautiful tool to do exactly that.
Yoga can be an important instrument in the collective quest of humanity for promoting sustainable lifestyle in harmony with body, mind, each other and planet Earth. Happy International Yoga Day, yogis!
